Tigers begin campaign by sinking title rivals Gloucester  Last year's runners-up Leicester began their Guinness Premiership campaign with a 20-8 win over Gloucester at Kingsholm.
The Tigers, who led 6-5 at the break, were guided to victory by tries from Frank Murphy and Toby Flood who also booted over two penalties.
Gloucester, who have finished top of the Premiership table in the last two seasons before losing in the playoffs, scored a first-half try through Olly Morgan while Ryan Lamb slotted over a penalty.
Elsewhere, Charlie Hodgson led Sale to a 14-9 victory over Newcastle at Kingston Park.
The England fly-half crashed over in the first-half before kicking over a penalty, while Luke McAllister slotted over two penalties. Rory Clegg kicked two penalties and a drop goal for the Falcons.
Elsewhere, Bath put in an impressive second-half display to beat Bristol 33-20 at the Memorial Stadium.
Joe Maddock, Tom Cheeseman, and Jonny Faamatuainu crashed over for the visitors while Butch James kicked three conversions and four penalties.
Bristol, who were tied at 17-17 at the break, crossed the line twice through Andrew Blowers and David Lemi while Adrian Jarvis booted over the two conversions to add to his two penalties.
Elsewhere, new boys Northampton began their campaign with a 21-13 win over Worcester at Franklins Gardens.
The home side, who trailed 3-6 at the break, were led to victory by tries from Dylan Hartley and Jon Clarke while Bruce Reihana kicked three penalties.
Worcester scored a converted try from Aleki Lutui in the closing stages but it was not enough to earn them a losing bonus point.
