Mandy Hutchinson is returning to Hollyoaks and looks like becoming a regular fixture in Channel 4's TV listings.

The last time Mandy was on our screens was for the funeral of Becca Dean in February 2007. Now the character is back for an extended stay and according to What's On TV magazine actress Sarah Jane Dunn said: "It's like I've never been away! It's great to see everyone again and to have such a great storyline to get my teeth into is fantastic - Mandy hasn't changed a bit!"

Publicists of the show say Mandy is returning to celebrate her brother, Max's, wedding and sticks around when things don't go to plan. She is returning as a single mum but old grudges emerge as not everyone is happy to see her back.

Mandy's first appearance on the show was as a schoolgirl dreaming of becoming a supermodel. She became involved with Ollie Benson, but her life was turned on its head when it was revealed that her father, Dennis, had sexually abused her. Eventually thanks to help from her older brother Lewis, she made a stand against Dennis which resulted in a seven year prison sentence for him.

With looks like Mandy's it was inevitable that she would be popular with the boys and she had a string of on-screen relationships. First she became involved with Luke Morgan, but that relationship was shattered after Luke was raped by Mark Gibbs, which was one of the most shocking and controversial soap story lines ever written. Mandy moved on from Luke and got together with his best friend Ben Davies, but Luke soon realised he had feelings for her and he confessed what Mark had done to him.

On the eve of the millennium Mandy helped deliver her half-brother during a driving lesson with mum Helen. But the joy was short lived following the suicide of older brother Lewis.

By 2003 Mandy discovered that Helen was having an affair with Tony Hutchinson and that her father was dying of cancer. She confronted him but there was no forgiveness and Mandy brought Tony alcohol to quicken the effects of the liver disease.

Things didn't get much better for poor Mandy as her mum and step-dad were killed in a car crash leaving her to look after the family business and her young half brother Tom. As if that wasn't enough Mandy then suffered a miscarriage and took out her anger on Tony, hitting him repeatedly until he finally hits her back. The ordeal convinced her that it was Tony that she wanted to be with and they decided to tie the knot in Rome and eventually she decided her future lay away from Hollyoaks - until now!
