Turkey Tops Card Fraud Table
Turkey has been found to be the country where British holiday makers most often experience credit card fraud, new research claims.
Turkey has been cited as the country in which holiday makers are most likely to experience credit card fraud, according to new banking sector research.
Other UK credit card fraud 'hotspots' include other European holiday destinations such as France, Spain and Italy, while the US and China are also included in the top ten, according to research carried out by Barclaycard.
"However, I'd remind cardholders that taking their card abroad is still safer than carrying cash, as cardholders are not held liable for any losses from fraudulent activity."
However, in order to keep the inconvenience and stress of becoming a victim of card fraud to a minimum, holiday makers are advised to follow some basic safety guidelines.
These include ensuring that the website used to book the holiday is reliable and trustworthy, and ensuring that the contact details of your card issuer are safety kept so that they can be easily contacted in the event of a suspected fraud.
